A new GoCardless report, commissioned by the Federation of Small Businesses, highlights the growing issue of late payments for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the UK. A survey of over 2,000 SMBs found that 45% have experienced more late payments than last year, with 50% expecting the problem to worsen over the next 12 months. The survey also found that late payments impact business growth, cash flow, and mental well-being, with 52% forfeiting late payments up to 10 times a year. Furthermore, 36% of SMBs say that late incoming payments affect their ability to pay their own suppliers on time, and 61% of small businesses say late payments are holding back their business from achieving its full potential.
