Latest data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) estimate that UK GDP rose an unrevised 0.3% in Q2 2025, following a 0.7% increase in Q1 (which was partially driven by frontloaded exports ahead of tariff change). A 1.0% surge in construction and a 0.4% increase in services helped keep the economy expanding, offsetting a 0.8% decline in production. Overall, GDP in Q2 2025 is now estimated to be 2.9% above Q4 2023, up from the ONS’s initial estimate of 2.6%. Annual growth for 2024 is estimated to have remained unchanged at 1.1%, but revisions have increased growth in the year to June 2025 from 1.2% to 1.4%. To read the ONS’ news release, go to https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/grossdomesticproductgdp/bulletins/quarterlynationalaccounts/apriltojune2025.
